In its monthly supply and demand report for cereals, FranceAgriMer has reduced the forecast for French soft wheat exports in the 2017/18 marketing year for the sixth time in succession. Currently, the analyzes expect exports outside the EU of 8.5 million tonnes. Previously, the forecast was 8.3 million tons.
The forecast for wheat exports 2017/18 in EU member states increased to 8.9 million tonnes (previous month: 8.5 million tonnes).
At the end of the 2017/18 season, FrancAgriMer reduced the forecast for French soft wheat stocks from 3.2 million tonnes to 2.7 million tonnes due to higher exports within the EU and slightly lower supply than in the previous month. Another influence on the wheat balance could be the strike of the French railroad workers against the railway reform, which leads to disruptions in logistics.
Estimates of final French barley stocks have also been reduced from 1.1 million tonnes in 2017/18 to 1.0 million tonnes.
FranceAgriMer, on the other hand, increased its 2017/18 final maize estimate from 2.7 million tonnes last month to 2.8 million tonnes.
