France: FranceAgriMer reduced wheat production forecast to 2016/17

France agricultural consultancy FranceAgriMer has reduced its forecast of the French soft wheat harvest 28 million tonnes 2016/17 to 500,000 tons. That would be a decline by 31.5% to the bumper crop by 2015/16 France agriculture suffers a catastrophic harvest this year. It was the worst harvest for 30 years. And also the qualities are difficult.
The forecast of exports outside the EU was left unchanged at 4.7 million tonnes - 62.8% the result of 12.6 million tons in 2015/16. The forecast of exports within the EU was slightly revised down from 6.6 million tons to 6.4 million tonnes.
At the 2016/17 wheat end stocks FranceAgriMer expects 2.4 million tonnes versus 3.3 million tonnes by 2015/16.
FranceAgriMer had forecast the current maize crop unchanged at 12.2 million tons, which would be a decrease of 6.6% from the previous season. The estimate of may send stocks has been increased by 300,000 tons of 2.0 million tons to 2.3 million tons versus 2.5 million tons in the previous season.
