France: Ministry of Agriculture lowers forecast of sugar beet production

The French Ministry of Agriculture has lowered its 2020 sugar beet harvest forecast to 27.2 million tons. In the past few months the forecast was 30.5 million tons. The reason for the lower prognosis are the effects of plant diseases and drought. With a forecast average yield of 64.9 tons per hectare, the average yields would be too weak, as was the case last in 2001.
The forecast for the grain maize harvest (excluding seeds) remained unchanged at 13.5 million tons, as did the forecast for the barley harvest (10.5 million tons). The forecast for soft wheat production was also lowered from 29.2 million tons last month to 29.1 million tons.
