French soft wheat exports outside the European Union totaled in April on a volume of 1.5 million tonnes, the highest value since the beginning of the marketing period 2015/16 (July - June). Overall, 9.7 million tons of wheat to destinations outside the EU were exported in the current period to April. This is an increase of 2% for the same period last year.
The biggest buyer was Morocco. The North African country, which has a much higher import demand due to a severe drought, bought 676.000 tonnes of common wheat in April. Total Morocco bought in the first 10 months of the marketing period 2015/16 1.9 million of tonnes of French wheat, which is an increase of 59% to the 2014/15 marketing period.
Algeria-189,000 tons and the Yemen bought 329,000 tons of wheat in France, Egypt, in April 58,000 tons.
