The assessment of maize stocks in France is significantly worse this week than in the previous week. It announced today the consultancy FranceAgriMer. A current drought impacts on the earnings of French maize stocks.
On 15 August, 63% of maize stocks in France with the best grade were rated good to excellent (g/e). This category has been getting smaller in recent weeks: in the previous week, there were 68% g/e and two weeks is still 70% g/e. That's but still better than the assessment on the same date in the previous year, when the crops only to 55% in g/s were classified. At that time the corn had suffered in the summer drought and heat.
This spring, it was often too wet, which led to a small wheat and barley harvest, since July's in France but very dry. The regions with a large maize cultivation in the West and Southwest are dried up to the part and an irrigation is hardly possible due to the limited water allocation.
The wheat harvest could last week almost to be completed in France. Only 3% of the land were left on the 15th of August. In the previous week, there were 76%, 99% of the areas were cleared on the same date in the previous year.
The France floggings of the weather this year produced the worst cereal harvest for 30 years. The harvest of summer barley is also terminated these days, were on Monday still 3% of the land.
