France's grain farmers disappointed by harvest

This year's wheat harvest will fall to 35 million tonnes in France, the largest wheat exporter in the European Union, according to the grain producer group AGBP.
This estimate is higher than the market analyst's latest forecast, which was 33 to 34.5 million tonnes.
Due to the low crop estimates, prices on the futures market in Paris rose to a 3-year high.
The grain merchant of Arvalis Christine Bar rates the farmers' estimate as very cautious; it could later be corrected downwards. However, 33 million tons are too pessimistic for them.
It is agreed, however, that the quality of the harvest has turned out very well. 12% protein on average since very good for France.
With that, France has a lot that allows good exports. In other parts of Europe and the Black Sea region, the weather conditions had not been so good.
The winter barley harvest of France is 9 to 10 million tonnes at the 5-year average.
