French Ministry of Agriculture adjusts crop estimates

The French Ministry of Agriculture today lowered its crop estimate for the 2018 sugarbeet from 41.1 to 40.4 million tonnes due to lower yields per hectare.
The reduced sugar beet harvest is now 12.7% lower than last year but 8.8% higher than the 5-year average.
In the ministry's monthly report, experts also lowered their crop estimates for corn from 12.4 last month to 12.2 million tonnes. This is 14.6% less than in the previous year and 15.5% less than the 5-year average.
The estimate for the wheat harvest is lowered from 34.55 to 34.2 million tonnes (-6.5% yoy).
The harvest estimate for 218 rape seed, on the other hand, is raised from 4.8 to 4.9 million tonnes.
