Fritebuds in Holland are not interested in new processing raw materials

Because a relatively large number of potatoes from the old harvest are still available for processing into french fries, the large potato processors there have little need for new processing raw materials. Now the storage potatoes are also cheaper. After the corona-related lockdown with closed snack bars and restaurants, prices had been between € 2 and € 3 / dt for a long time. Now they give in by 50 cents / dt. Even though the new harvest is already being processed in Belgium, France and Germany, Dutch chip shops still prefer the old harvest. As a result, potatoes from the new harvest are now producing optimal yields, which further increases supply pressure. In Belgium the Premiere variety is listed at € 3 / dt almost as low as the old harvest, although the yield of the "new" is better. Many factories either go on holiday or have only 70-80% of their pre-corona quantities.
