Frost damage to wheat in Argentina

According to an August 20 report by the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange, drought and severe frosts recently have caused wheat yields to drop in Argentina.
An estimated 6.5 million hectares of wheat were recently planted for the 2020-21 crop year, compared to the original forecast of 6.8 million hectares, the report said.
Last week there was light and severe frost that covered much of the country's grain-producing region. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said the frost caused irreversible damage to some of the previously planted wheat areas.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service, Argentina is projected to rank 10th in global wheat production in 2020-21 at 20.5 million tons. With 14 million tons, it should be the eighth largest wheat exporter in the world this year.
