Glyphosate: EU Commission wants clear position of the Member States

In the debate about a re-registration of plant protection product glyphosate, the Commission intends to achieve a clear positioning of the individual Member States under all circumstances. The Commission is therefore considering severely restrict the time period for an additional authorisation, according to current information by Coceral on 1.5 to 2 years. Background is to respond faster to new scientific findings. Thus, an opinion of the EU Chemicals Agency ECHA to glyphosate will be available end of 2017.
