This year, British wheat production increased by 19.7% compared to the previous year to 16.22 million tons. With an increased area under cultivation, yields were also still good.
This final harvest result is almost identical to the provisional result of 16.28 million tons reported in October.
Wheat yields increased by 15.2% to an average of 8.9 tons per hectare. The area under cultivation is reported at 1.82 million hectares, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2018.
Barley production rose even more sharply. In the UK, 8.05 million tons were produced and harvested, an increase of 23.6%.
In contrast, rapeseed production fell by 12.9% to a 15-year low, reaching only 1.75 million tons.
