The prices of the CBoT wheat futures are dropping for the second day in a row today, as the field holdings in the USA receive a good rating and a record harvest can be expected. At the same time, exporters in the US fear that the global market will be weakened by the corona crisis.
The USDA judged Monday's wheat fields in North America to be 62% in good shape. Last year it was 60% on this date. Analysts had expected it to be only 56%.
In France, the area under wheat for the 2020 harvest was reduced by 7.5% compared to the previous year. This makes 4.6 million hectares the smallest wheat area in France in 17 years.
