Price increases in the soy and corn complex and good international demand caused the wheat prices to close yesterday in Chicago with price gains. Precipitation forecasts for the Great Plains, however, limited the increase. US winter wheat sowing for the 2021 harvest will be completed on November 1 on 89% of the planned areas (previous week: 85%). Analysts expected sowing progress of 91%. Institutional investors bought 500 CBoT SRW wheat contracts yesterday. The electronic night exchange is trading a little weaker this morning.
Wheat futures failed to hold their opening gains on Euronext in Paris and ended the trading day inconsistently. The EU Commission reports that common wheat exports to the EU plus Great Britain in the current 2020/21 season (July 1 to June 30) reached a volume of 6.89 million tonnes as of November 1. Compared to the previous year on November 3rd, this is a decrease of 29%. As of November 2, the Ukraine harvested 53.5 million tons of grain on 13.5 million hectares or 88% of the sown area. Tunisia's state grain agency bought 50,000 tons of milling wheat and 50,000 tons of feed barley of optional origin, according to traders.
