The spring development of rapeseed stocks in Germany was very different regionally because of the weather conditions. The cold snap in March / April caused some farmers to break their land. The sudden weather conditions of recent weeks has also left its mark. At first it was too cold and too wet, then summer temperatures reached from regional up to 30 ° C. The days became longer, but at night it was still very cold. The temperature fluctuations within 24 hours were partly 20 ° C. Above-ground parts of plants have recently developed very quickly, but because of the partly too wet and cold soils, the nutrient uptake does not lag behind. A budding wilt is the result. Under these circumstances, hardly any high returns are expected.
The rape supply from the old crop has recently increased again, as many farmers want to clear their warehouses for the new harvest. The demand is weak, because the oil mills process sweet soybeans, because this is more to earn.
Soybean meal from Argentina has risen to its highest level since July 2016 in the last week. This cools down the buying interest of the compound feed companies and they are now more interested in rapeseed meal, which is only marginally available and has become more expensive by seven euros / ton compared to the previous week.
