December 2021 was filled with reports that pushed rap prices higher. A scarce supply of oilseeds not only in Europe but also in Canada and rising prices in the soybean market drove the prices on the Paris futures exchange Matif. Historical highs were traded several times. The February contract reached 738 € / to as high as again before. Even higher prices were paid for physical delivery on product exchanges in February 2022. Later delivery dates are lower. Sellers are still hard to find, because the old harvest seems to be almost sold out. However, farmers would like to sell more rapeseed from the next harvest, perhaps also because there are indications that market supply will improve in 2022. In Germany, France and Great Britain, the area under cultivation has increased noticeably, according to the first results of the land use.
