Hard bargaining in Argentina

Argentina's Union of port workers (CGT) will occur on June 1 strike if demands for higher wages are not met. The grain export then wants to bring to a halt. Transport distances to the mills and the port terminals on the Paraná River will be blocked. Approximately 80% of Argentine grain exports are handled via the port of Rosario. There, the grain multinationals have Bunge, Cargill and Louis Dreyfus their works and transshipment points. The CGT also quality inspector is one of its members.
Tough salary negotiations are common in Argentina. Argentina has one of the highest inflation rates in the world. The Government specifies the inflation rate at 24%, private economic institutes say there are almost 35%.
