State aid in the Netherlands to mine unsalable fries raw material serves its purpose. In the meantime, the potato stores are clearing away. Customers are feed farmers, biogas operators and flake manufacturers. Prices from 1.5 - 2.5 € / dt are paid. Somewhat better qualities find their way to Eastern Europe and achieve producer prices of 3-4 € / dt. Most of the Dutch potatoes are already exported. Even if many restaurants were allowed to open again, this is hardly noticeable with the better sales of French fries. The potato processors only used 192,000 tons of raw material in April, compared to 258,000 tons in March, which means that around 300,000 tons less potatoes were processed in these two Corona months. However, since product sales slumped even more, the chip manufacturers had to use all available cooling capacities. That could be a long way off for us.
