India surprises with large wheat exports

In the period April-October (2021-22), wheat exports from India were worth $ 872 million. In the reference period before that, it was only $ 135 million. India's largest wheat exports of all time were recorded in the current financial year.
India's wheat exports were $ 243 million in 2020 compared to $ 50 million in 2016.
Wheat exports recorded an average annual growth rate of a whopping 48.56% in the period 2016-2020.
Bangladesh is the main destination for wheat exports; Yemen, Afghanistan, Qatar and Indonesia create new markets for Indian wheat in 2020-21.
