India's soybean cultivation shrinks for two years

India's edible oil imports rose in June compared with the June 2015 by 14.2%.
The main growing region in the State of Madhya Pradesh has the acreage for soy beans to the lowest level for two years. Because prices for soybeans has fallen over the last two years by 10% and the prices of pulses have risen during this time to the triple, the area under cultivation was used differently. In India, now 11.21 million hectares were grown soy beans (previous year: 11.63 million hectares).
The soybean sowing in India starts with the use of monsoon rain in June and ends in these days. The harvest is in September to October. Heavy rains have prevented that all areas could be ordered. In Madhya Pradesh 221% fell in the last week more rain than usual.
