Indonesia: No corn and feed wheat imports planned for 2017

Indonesia will import this year most likely neither corn nor wheat for the purposes of animal feeding. The local harvest is sufficient to meet the demand. Jarkarta has recently vigorously supported domestic grain production and announced that it planned import stops for corn.
Local corn production is estimated at 12-15 million tons in the first quarter of this year, in comparison it was 10 million tons last year at the same time.
Last year, Indonesia imported 2 million tons of feed wheat and 840,000 tons of maize. Domestic corn demand amounts to 8 million tonnes versus 7.6 million tons of 2016.
