Indonesia wants to expand biodiesel regulations on all vehicle types

Indonesia's government is considering extending the mandatory use of biodiesel to all diesel vehicles.
Currently, the world's largest palm oil producer has only a limited number of eligible vehicles to fuel subsidized biodiesel. Biodiesel is refined there from the raw material palm oil.
With the new ordinance, all vehicles, including the heavy-duty vehicles in mining, are to fill up with biodiesel.
The government is also planning to amend existing fuel taxation schemes, which will be the preferred treatment for biodiesel.
The Minister of Industry expects that biodiesel consumption in Indonesia will increase by 3.2 million tons per year.
