Institutional investors (non-commercial participants) once again significantly reduced their net long holdings of Matif wheat. The portfolio of 40,922 net long positions on futures and options from the previous week was reduced to 17,704 net long positions in the week ending March 13. This is shown in the COT report published today by Euronext. Investment funds, banks and insurance companies belong to the group of “non-commercial participants”.
The group of “commercial participants”, including hedgers, reduced their holdings of net short positions as of March 13 from 51,522 contracts to 29,864 net short contracts. This group's share of the open contract portfolio is 69.6%, while non-commercial participants represent 22.1% of the open interest.
91.7% of the open contract portfolio for Euronext wheat was taken into account (previous week: 94%).
