Institutional investors (non-commercial participants) almost halved their net long holdings of Matif wheat. The holdings of 70,190 net long positions on futures and options from the previous week were increased to 40,922 net long positions in the week ending March 6. This is shown by the COT report published by Euronext. Investment funds, banks and insurance companies belong to the group of “non-commercial participants”.
The group of “commercial participants”, ie hedgers, reduced their portfolio of net short positions as of March 6th from 76,100 contracts to 51,522 net short contracts. This group's share of the open contract portfolio is 70.9%, while non-commercial participants represent 23.0% of the open interest.
93.9% of the open contract portfolio for Euronext wheat was taken into account (previous week: 93.9).
