The more positive mood continued on the slaughter pig market. Supply and demand are largely balanced. The range of live animals is manageable and trade is brisk. The declining animal populations throughout Germany are now having a relieving effect. For additional batches, surcharges have to be paid again and again by the slaughterhouses. In addition, there is the Christmas business, which should increase the demand for the more noble parts again. At today's pig exchange, the animals could be sold at a higher price level of 2.10 euros. At the auction of the internet pig exchange on Friday, 870 pigs in 7 lots out of 1030 offered pigs in 6 lots were sold at an average price of 2.10 euros/kg SG. That's +2 cents compared to the last auction on Tuesday. The trading range was between 2.09 and 2.115 euros.
