The Iraqi grain exchange has bought 100,000 tons of wheat in an international tender process. 50,000 tonnes come from the United States and another 50,000 tonnes from Australia. Seller of the entire 100,000 tons was the trading house Ameropa. The US wheat was bought for $ 332.17 / tonne c & f free out, and Australia's wheat paid $ 309.95 / tonne c & f free out. Qualities were sought from the United States, Australia and Canada in the tender, but no quotations were made for Canadian wheat. Only four companies made offers, a rather modest number, considering the previous years. Since last year, Iraq has faced problems with international tenders. Newly introduced payment and quality conditions, which became less attractive for the seller, justify the reluctance. In the coming months, further invitations to tender for Iraq are expected, despite an expected increase in wheat production. The Department of Commerce said that they wanted to continue their strategy of international tenders and direct business.
