The corn contracts on Euronext/Matif essentially followed the specifications from wheat trading. The leading March 23 contract lost EUR 4.50 per tonne and closed the last trading day of the past week at EUR 288.50 per tonne. On the CBoT, on the other hand, corn futures contracts rose slightly. Due to the ongoing war, the US Department of Agriculture cut Ukraine's prospects by 4.5 million tons to 27 million tons. Expectations for Russia have also been reduced due to a smaller acreage. Global corn export volumes are also likely to be lower, according to USDA analysts. The main reason for this is lower export volumes in the USA. Pre-market, CBoT corn starts the new trading week with slight gains.
