On the Euronext/Matif, corn prices fell slightly yesterday, Monday, but are still above last Thursday's level. On Friday in particular, the corn contracts increased again significantly. First and foremost, traders are still looking at the weak European corn harvest and the associated high prices for the necessary imports. The maize harvest as a whole is largely complete in Germany. The small grains report published on Friday by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) also gave European corn prices a boost. US corn inventories are around 35.05 million tons, lower than many traders had been expecting. The US export figures are better than in the same week last year with 661,000 tons of corn shipped. Pre-market today, the eCBoT shows slight, almost insignificant losses for the corn contracts.
