While the corn prices in Paris were largely unchanged or with slight gains, the CBoT went somewhat more southward. In France, the grain maize harvest is said to be 26 percent complete. Compared to the previous week, this shows that French farmers are hardly making any progress in their harvest work. On the one hand, the stronger US dollar dampened the price development on the CBoT and on the other hand, clear signals of recession worries came again, especially from the financial markets but also from the oil market. The US harvest should make good progress this week. The weather forecast indicates dry conditions. The losses are limited by the sharp correction in global corn production and the declining ending stocks that the International Grains Council published on Thursday. Chicago corn contracts are trending slightly lower premarket.
