Little rapeseed trade for the coming harvest

Rapeseed was unable to continue the increase of the last few days yesterday. In the front month of February it went south by 6.75 euros to 439 euros per ton. Overall, trading in rapeseed on the actual market remains calm, but the recent price increases on the stock exchange have partly increased the willingness of farmers to sell. Franko Hamburg is currently quoted at 441 euros/t for deliveries in January, while Franko Niederrhein remains unchanged at 452 euros/t. Preliminary contracts for the coming harvest are currently barely traded. As the French Ministry of Agriculture announced yesterday, rapeseed in France is being sown on an area of around 1.35 million tonnes, which corresponds to an increase of around 0.5 percent compared to the previous year. Unlike wheat, the rapeseed was sown in the fields on time and was not delayed by the many rain showers. Canola in Winnipeg also fell yesterday, weighed down by the demands from the crude oil market and the soy complex.
