At the end of the week, corn prices on the Euronext/Matif in Paris went north. The March contract increased by EUR 2.25 per ton to EUR 278 per ton. Despite the gains on Friday, there is a slight minus of 2 euros per tonne on the weekly view. 91 percent of the Ukrainian corn stocks have now been harvested. Because of the war, the harvest from the last sowing will last until February. According to official information, almost 26 million tons of corn were currently harvested. On the CBoT, corn also rose on the last trading day of the past week. In Argentina, farmers are now 96.5 percent complete with sowing. The grain exchange in Buenos Aires raised the condition assessment of the plants to 22 percent (+10 percentage points) in the category good to very good. Many corn fields benefited from the rains of the week before last, but the bottom line is that the situation in the South American country remains difficult. The soybean harvest in Brazil is still progressing slowly, so the second corn sowing there could start later. Pre-market gains will be recaptured with the start of trading today.
