Malaysia is planning a B10 biodiesel program

From the second half of 2019, Malaysia wants to oblige refineries in the country to increase its ethanol content from 7% to 10%. This should increase the demand for palm oil and support prices.
Palm oil serves as a raw material for the production of bio-ethanol. Malaysia is the world's second largest producer of palm oil. The price difference between crude oil and palm oil has recently been constantly decreasing, so that the blending of biofuel pays off.
The Ministry in Kuala Lumpur wants to present the program by the end of the year and present it to the Cabinet for approval. An increase to 10% in 2016, when crude oil prices were even lower, failed because of economic considerations.
Last year, the price of palm oil approached Gasoil, in April palm oil was even cheaper than crude oil. In the last week, even a discount of 129 USD / ton.
The price of palm oil, from which components for biodiesel are extracted, has already fallen by 12% this year, because demand is weak.
