Matif corn slightly firmer

Corn closed yesterday in November with a slight increase of 0.25 euros/t at 214.00 euros/t. Overall, however, the prices showed little movement yesterday. According to recent statements from the Russian government, it is unlikely that the talks between the presidents of Turkey and Russia could bring an effective solution for Ukraine. Instead, Russia favors export alternatives in order to better position its own goods on the global market. There will be talks between the two foreign ministers today and tomorrow. At the CBoT, corn also went south yesterday. Due to the weather, the Mississippi River is currently experiencing low water levels, which is significantly affecting transport capacities, particularly towards Mexico. US ethanol production fell again last week, but inventories also fell at the same time. Brazilian exporters are satisfied. As the export association ANEX announced, 9.19 million tons of corn were expected to be exported in August; in August of the previous year the export volume was 6.89 million tons.
