Ministry of Agriculture in Kiev lowers grain harvest expectations

The Ministry of Trade and Agriculture in Kiev expects the grain harvest in Ukraine to be between 65 and 71 million tons in 2020, compared to 75.1 million tons in 2019.
At the beginning of February, the agricultural market analyst ProAgro had estimated the grain harvest of Ukraine at 72.673 million tons in 2020. The wheat harvest will come to 28.3 million tons and the corn harvest will be as large as in 2019.
Ukraine is one of the leading grain producers and exporters in the world. Winter seeds for the 2020 harvest were planted on around seven million hectares. Where the seeds have risen, the condition of the fields is satisfactory to good. The acreage for the 2019 harvest was 7.1 million hectares.
