More ASF cases in China after flooding

Cases of African swine flu (ASF) are increasing again in the southern parts of China. After the massive rainfall with flooding in the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi and other regions, dozens of cases of infection have now been reported again.
It seemed that China could curb the spread of the plague. Now the outbreaks are flaming up again, especially in smaller companies. Heavy rains prevent the necessary hygiene measures because the viruses are probably spread through the groundwater.
This undermines the efforts to rebuild China's pig population. The sow population decreased in the southwest of the country in June. In some provinces, pig stocks are now 20% lower than in May. Analysts expect the stock of pork to decrease sharply should the exceptionally wet weather persist.
Pig prices in China are close to their previous highs reached last October.
