More corn for Brazil

The bearish sentiment in the corn market continued during yesterday's trading on Euronext. The March date recorded a loss of EUR 1.50 per tonne and thus costs EUR 299.50 per tonne. No agreement could be reached in the USA on the import of genetically modified maize. The Mexicans are among the most important buyers of US corn and will no longer allow imports in two years. Further talks are planned, but no solution seems to be in sight. The USDA released its estimate of Brazil's corn harvest yesterday. Production is expected to be 126 million tons, up 5% from previous estimates. Above all, the larger acreage is responsible for the upward correction, it said.
