The corn contracts on the Euronext/Matif started the new week yesterday inconsistently. While the front month of March ended trading unchanged on Friday, the June contract lost 0.25 euros/t and closed at 308.25 euros/t. Overall, however, relatively few corn sales by the Parisian Matif were seen yesterday. On the CBoT, corn contracts also went south. Increasing numbers of corona infections in China and the US dollar, which rose again yesterday, dampened the mood of market participants. In addition, the weekly export shipments were 7% lower than in the previous week. The seasonal backlog of US corn exports is currently around 2.3 million tons behind the previous year's volume. In Brazil, domestic shipments of corn from the main growing regions are faltering. Supporters of President Bolsonara, who was voted out, are demonstrating here and blocking important trunk roads that are of great importance for logistics within the country. The eCBoT is also showing signs of red before the trading day.
