In the last few days it has been raining heavily in Argentina. In the central and southern parts of the country, the soybean harvest is disturbed. Further north, however, the harvest is progressing rapidly. This is what the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange announced today.
The rains come at an inopportune time. Thousands of hectares have been suffering from drought since November to April, now during the corn and soybean harvest, rainfall is disrupting and quality is threatened.
So far, 61.8% of soybeans are off the field. The average yield is 2.34 tonnes / hectare. Under current conditions, stock exchange experts estimate the harvest at 38 million tons.
The corn harvest has also started in the Pampa. In particular, the harvest on the fields ordered later could be delayed because of the rain. Until yesterday, 32.5% of the 2017/18 corn crop was harvested in Argentina. The average yield is currently given as 7.16 tonnes / hectare. The harvest can reach 32 million tons.
