Ukraine is becoming increasingly important for the supply of rapeseed to the community. Large amounts of soy have come from the USA in recent months. In the 2019/20 season so far, the EU-28 received around 8.7 million tons of soybeans from overseas, almost 6% less than in the same period last year.
A shift in the flow of goods is emerging. Since the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2019, the USA has delivered the largest share with 52% of total imports. That was also the case in the same period in 2017/18, but at 79% or 7.1 million tonnes, the share or absolute quantity was significantly larger at the time.
Ukraine is the EU-28's main supplier of rapeseed, and around 2.8 million tonnes were imported this season. This corresponds to an increase of almost a third compared to the same period last year. Canada is also more important in this marketing year, as it even more than quadrupled its delivery volume to over 1 million tons, pushing Australia into third place. Source: EU Commission
