Paraguay, number 4 among the grain exporters worldwide, could harvest more than 10 million tons of soybeans in the current soybean harvest for the marketing period 2019/20. Currently, about half of the 3.5 million hectares (8.7 million acres) sown in October and November have already been harvested, Deputy Agriculture Minister Mario Leon told Reuters. The start after sowing was not optimal due to dry weather conditions. Over time, however, precipitation has normalized the situation and the harvest has given good results. The average yields in the top locations are over 5,000 kg per hectare. The average yield is 2,700 kg per hectare. 8.5 million tons of soybeans were harvested in Paraguay last year.
