Pig price for slaughter remains at 1.27

There is an oversupply of pigs ready for slaughter across Germany. The slaughter weights are increasing. There is no end in sight to this misery.
In Germany the pork trade is brisk, sales to other EU countries have almost completely collapsed. Selling pork to other EU countries is often only possible at low prices.
However, supply and demand for meat in this country fit together, so that there is no price pressure. However, there are no sales opportunities for so-called China items such as ribs.
The supply of slaughter pigs is also increasing in other EU countries. In cooler temperatures, the fattening rates are better. The demand for live pigs abroad is good and there are hardly any overhangs there. However, there are concerns about the effects of the Corona crisis on the personnel situation in the slaughterhouses. In order to get the quantities of pigs from the farms, it would actually have to be slaughtered on public holidays and weekends. However, the authorities are blocking this with reference to the Federal Immission Control Act.
