On the Matif, wheat contracts rose again yesterday. However, at EUR 336.50/t, the December contract is almost EUR 2 below last week's closing price on Thursday. Prices in Paris will be driven primarily by the latest statements from Russia that a final decision on the grain corridor has not yet been made. A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said the problems in the world market for Russian grain and fertilizers have not yet been resolved. The cash markets continue to be characterized by little turnover, although prices have increased here in the last few days. According to traders, the fact that more and more pigsties are closing is now having an impact on the demand for feed wheat. Dutch buyers are in the north and south-west in search of feed grain for the first quarter of 2022, but deals rarely materialise. This year's Polish wheat harvest is estimated at 13.5 million tons by the Central Statistical Office. Poland harvested around 1.3 million tons more wheat than in 2021. The strong US dollar weighed on the mood on the CBoT, but surprisingly good export figures of over 533,000 tons of wheat were able to slow down the price losses.Overall, however, this year's US exports are lagging behind at 11.83 million tons compared to the same point in 2021 (12.6 million tons).
