Potato exports from Germany and Holland have been doing quite well in recent weeks. Germany mainly supplies processing potatoes to Belgium and Holland had already sold 313,000 tonnes abroad at the end of November, which is relatively high. For one thing, this is due to the low prices in Central Europe. Traditional buyers in Africa, Asia and America pay more locally. On the other hand, Scandinavia, where the harvest was relatively small, has also taken in more tubers. At firmer prices, however, this only took place in the last week of December, because since then the coveted oversizes from the plant material processing are offered. In Germany, the consumption of table potatoes in 2017 did not continue to decline for the first time.
