In addition, the corona crisis caused too few refrigerated containers to be available to process existing orders. Freight costs have increased despite falling energy prices. The fear of a slump in sales is now causing the free market for fries raw materials to come to a standstill. Quotations for category I fries raw material fell in the Netherlands at the beginning of the week by € 1.75 / dt to € 12-15 / dt. Warehouses are now looking for alternative sales channels on the export potato market. The demand for table potatoes has increased because consumers are not the only ones buying hamsters in this country. In times of the corona crisis, more is eaten at home, which is why out-of-home consumption is also falling.
