Potatoes: still too early for storage fees

The Heidekartoffelverbund in Lower Saxony are currently trying to enforce a storage charge of five euros / 100 kg for table potatoes. As long as the market supply is fresh from the field but still guaranteed that should not succeed so quickly. Meanwhile, in the supermarkets stockpile at low prices run and the national sales from Lower Saxony is quiet. Buyers of the processing industry are also currently holding back on the free market. They are well supplied with contract potatoes and from Holland and Belgium one even hears from a supply pressure. Bintje, with a high proportion of swimmers, was therefore rated last Friday by the Belgapom after only € 25 with € 20 / dt. Batches of preferred varieties for delivery from November costs in Holland but again 30 € / dt and more. In April 2019 33 € / dt were already called for good games. Three euros more than on the futures exchange!
