The courses of the MATIF Weizenfutures 3% increased today shortly before the close of trading. Reason for that are worried, that makes the yields and qualities of the French milling wheat. France particularly suffered too much rain in the spring and early summer. Now that the harvest is started, disappointing yields and low test weights show. Usually the protein levels are satisfactory. Scoffers already think that pigs eat wheat with high protein levels, finally you can not export such wheat and leaving only the feeding trough. Corn would thus displaced from the feedlots. The wheat qualities in Germany are promising, however, and so the export could concentrate on German or Polish origins.
