CBoT wheat futures prices rose more than 1% to a three-week high this morning, as cold in the US growing regions adds further stress to the winter crop. Previously, it was much too dry for months.
It should occasionally even frost damage. Already in the last week the USDA had reported damage to the field stocks. The hard-red winter wheat is probably the hardest hit. The difficult weather conditions also delay the sowing of summer crops.
Although wheat and soybean prices have improved again, the trade war between the USA and China unsettles market participants.
