Matif rapeseed was also hit yesterday as a result of the grain export announcement, but the losses were far less minor than, for example, wheat. Despite the losses yesterday, the new front month of February and the other dates are still well above the level of last Friday. The EU Commission last estimated rapeseed production at 19.5 million tons at the end of October and thus hardly changed the harvest forecast. Rapeseed imports have been far less dynamic in the last week. While 215,353 tons of rapeseed were imported into the EU in the 17th calendar week of the marketing year, it was only 126,551 tons last week. A total of 2.2 million tons of rapeseed were imported in the first 18 weeks of this marketing year, which is less than in the 2020/21 marketing year but significantly more than last year, when 1.7 million tons were imported at that time. Soy, on the other hand, was up yesterday. After volatile trading at the end of the day, the beans gained 6.25 US cents/bu in the most traded January date. Traders are hoping for increasing demand from China. In addition, the soybean processing figures in September rose by 2.9 percent compared to the same month last year.
