Rapeseed and canola were up yesterday. On the Euronext/Matif, it went northwards for 4.50 euros/t, Canola rose by 9.40 Can-$ and thus costs the equivalent of 632.95 euros per ton. On the spot markets in Germany, rape sales remain low. The spot market listings recently followed the developments on the Euronext/Matif. Franko Ölmühle Hamburg is currently quoted at 608.00 euros/t for deliveries in November, in Straubing in Bavaria it is 603.00/t. Soybean prices were treading water yesterday. Soybeans increased marginally, soybean meal lost marginally. The significantly increased crude oil prices yesterday did not provide any real support either. From today's export sales, the trading participants expect quantities of 250,000 to 850,000 tons. Most recently, the lower end of analyst estimates had been hit. The grain exchange in Argentina expects the next soybean harvest in the country to be 48 million tons. That would be around 4 million tons more than this year. However, Argentina is currently suffering from a severe drought. In the coming week, the figures from the USDA on the quarterly inventories are also due. Traders expect these to be slightly lower than this time last year. Before the market, the beans start the day stronger.
