In the shadow of the overall negative mood yesterday, corn on the Matif also went south, although the losses here were not as severe as for wheat. At EUR 337.25 per tonne, the November contract closed EUR 1.50 lower than on Wednesday. In the September estimate from 30.09. the EU Commission now only expects a harvest volume of 55.7 million tons, which is 19.26% less than the average harvest over the last five years and is also well below the year 2018. On the CBoT, corn contracts also went south and pre-market corn prices in Chicago are also in the red today. The weekly export sales published yesterday were again 56% below those of the previous week and were therefore clearly disappointing. Market participants are also slowly but surely positioning themselves for the upcoming WASDE report. Most analysts are expecting a reduction in the US corn harvest.
