Romania's wheat export contracts to non-EU destinations that were closed before April 10 can be carried out, according to Minister of Agriculture Adrian Oros. When asked whether all wheat export agreements could be concluded with Egypt, Oros told Reuters: "They are not blocked."
The minister gave no further details.
On April 10, the government banned the export of wheat and meslin, barley, oats, corn, rice, wheat flour and other food to non-EU countries to ensure domestic supplies during the coronavirus crisis.
Romania is a major grain exporter for the Middle East, with Egypt being a major customer.
